If you post on social media on behalf of your business or organisation, you’ll know that every platform has their own requirements for ideal image sizes, and these seem to frequently change as the platform updates. This can make it a very frustrating process to ensure you know the exact dimensions for different types of image or video on each platform to help your content look its best and get the best possible reach and engagement.

Getting image sizes wrong can mean that your content doesn’t display properly, and many social algorithms won’t give priority to content that doesn’t meet their precise requirements – which can limit your organic reach on their platform. No one wants to see pixelated or distorted images on social media, especially on a brand account, as this can look unprofessional.

Our cheat sheet lists the current (Jan 2024) most commonly-used social media image sizes for X (Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and TikTok – so you can get your content looking its best first time.

Unfortunately, this feature isn’t available on Canva’s free plan, so you’ll need a paid subscription to use it. However, for timesaving alone, the small monthly fee might well be worth it for businesses that post across different social platforms regularly.
