Welcome to the TEAM!

Earlier this month we welcomed two new faces to the Umbrella Marketing TEAM: Marketing Services Manager, Mary McGuffog, and Marketing Executive, James Barnes. We’re delighted to have them on board- you can read their self-introductions below!


 

Welcome…Mary McGuffog

Mary McGuffogI’m really excited to have recently joined the Umbrella Marketing Team as the Marketing Services Manager. My role here will involve contributing towards clients’ marketing collateral and advising on the best ways to successfully communicate a client’s brand to their target audiences.

 

My background is in Marketing and PR with my last role being the Head of Marketing and Communications at an equestrian manufacturing company.  My role largely consisted of organising and attending events in the UK and overseas, establishing social media platforms and building a following, liaising with the press over new products and account manage a range of clients.

 

I am excited to bring my organisational skills, creative ideas and upbeat attitude to this brilliant and talented team.

 

Loves: Breakfast, Game of Thrones, Red Wine
Loathes: Licorice, Being Woken Up, Bad Drivers

 

Qualifications: MSc in Corporate Communications and Reputation Management from Manchester Business School & BA (Hons) History and English


 

Welcome…James Barnes

James BarnesHello, my name is James and I am Umbrella Marketing TEAM’s new Marketing Executive.

 

My previous experience includes work in hospitality, printing and education. My introduction the world of marketing came when I worked as a Sales Executive for an international print firm, where I learnt the importance of brand integrity, promotion and- of course- the fine art of print production!

 

My work in the education sector has seen me produce a diverse portfolio of work that spans corporate stationery and brochures through to the full conceptual brief and delivery of a website and e-commerce system. I have worked on integrated advertising campaigns that have included both traditional and digital approaches to marketing a business. One of my proudest moments was seeing a campaign I planned and executed on a digital display in Liverpool ONE (as well as everywhere else!)

 

I’m a self-confessed data geek and love to get stuck into the analytics around a campaign: it’s rewarding to see how my work translates into the numbers and measures that really matter. My commercial mindset keeps me focussed on delivering results to the bottom line in all the activity that I am involved with: after all, generating real revenue is what marketing is all about!

 

Looking ahead, I am excited to say that I will be studying for my Chartered Institute of Marketing qualifications with the support of Umbrella Marketing TEAM, and after that I will be embarking upon a postgraduate marketing course!
